Antennas are designed to collect electromagnetic waves propagating in space and ensure propagation within the transmission channel (receiver) or to spread electromagnetic waves into space (transmitter). Antennas can carry data many kilometers away due to the waves they emit. The transmitting and receiving characteristics of an antenna are the same. This is called the reciprocity feature of antennas. In inter-satellite communication, the same antenna is used for both transmitting and receiving.
