Mining
Although zinc is produced from elemental scrap materials, a large part of it is produced from the sphalerite (ZnS) mineral by pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical methods. Zinc is an element with a single oxidation degree and a value of +2 in its compounds. It also shows reducing amphoteric properties and generally forms ionic bonds in compounds.
